BODIAN. Mr. Nat Bodian died May 1, 2010, at Saint Barnabas Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. He was 89. (See story, Page 1.)

Born in Newark, Mr. Bodian began in his teens as a reporter for the Star-Ledger of Newark. He served as a journalist in the Army Air Force during World War II, where he was the South Atlantic correspondent for YANK magazine. After the war, he was in the first graduating class of the public relations program at the New School for Social Research in New York. He retired in 1988 from John Wiley and Sons in New York City after a 30-year career as a marketing manager for professional and scholarly books. In retirement he focused his interest on American history and in 2000 he completed a book on presidential curiosities and oddities. Acquiring his first computer at the age of 79, he became involved with the Old Newark Web site (oldnewark.com), featuring recollections by former Newarkers on the city's life from the 1920s through the 1960s. He contributed more than 100 articles for the site, providing intimate and detailed recollections of the flourishing Newark Jewish community. He also contributed historical articles on notable Newark neighborhoods and landmarks, and on the lives of notable former Newarkers, such as Louis Bamberg, ballplayer and war hero Moe Berg, and Mayor Ed Koch. He was a lifelong YMHA member. During the Depression years he considered the YMHA a second home. He has been on the boards of directors of the YMHAs in Hillside, Newark, and Union. He served as an officer of B'nai B'rith and the Anti-Defamation League. His wife of 56 years, Ruth, died in 2005.

Mr. Bodian is survived by his brother, Albert; sons, Mark and Les; and grandchildren, Spencer and Natalie. Interment at Beth David Cemetery, Kenilworth. Arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.

CAPLAN. Ms. Phyllis Robin Caplan died April 27, 2010, at home. She was 61.

Born in Newark, Phyllis lived in Union and Colonia before moving to Livingston 13 years ago. She was a customer service representative for Formosa Plastics Co., Livingston. She earned a B.A. from Newark State Teachers College, now Kean University. She was a past president of the Northern N.J. Council of B'nai B'rith and a member of the Livingston Lodge. She was also a founding member and past president of the Chavarim Singles Unit of B'nai B'rith, a life member of Jewish Women International, and a life member of Hadassah.

Ms. Caplan is survived by her sister, Carol Graff of Manalapan; and brother, Allan Hersh of Atlanta. Interment at B'nai Abraham Cemetery, Newark. Arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial donations may be made to a B'nai B'rith or an ORT chapter of one's choice.

GLICKSON. Mr. Jack Glickson died April 30, 2010, at home. He was 94.

Born in Mahattan, Mr. Glickson lived in Livingston before moving to Monroe 15 years ago. Prior to retiring in 1980, he was a partner at JMS Jewelry Manufacturing, Bloomfield. He enjoyed playing golf and was also a craftsman and an artist, painting, working with stained glass, and creating jewelry. He was a beloved family man who will be missed by all. His son, David, died in 2005.

Mr. Glickson is survived by his wife of 73 years, Helen "Hattie" Cherin Glickson; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Janet; grandsons, Todd and his wife, Mary Ellen, and Danny; great-granddaughter, Sarah; daughter-in-law, Christine Shaub Glickson, and her children, Daniel and Katy Shaub; brother, Al Glickson; and step-sisters, Bella Laibleman and Janet Adler. Interment at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin. Arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick.

GOLDBERG. Mr. William D. Goldberg died May 3, 2010, at the Medical Center at Princeton. He was 80.

Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Goldberg was a lifelong resident there before moving to Monroe 17 years ago. Prior to retiring in 1995 he was a manager for Waldbaums Grocery store, Staten Island. He was a member of Temple Rodeph Torah and of the Men's Club of Clearbrook. He was also a veteran of the Army, serving from 1951 to 1953.

Mr. Goldberg is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Joyce Rudick Goldberg; sons and daughter-in-law, Roy and Audrey, Martin, and Robert; granddaughter, Amanda; and sister, Carol Slutsky. Interment at Wellwood Cemetery, Farmingdale, N.Y. Arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick.

GOLDIN. Mrs. Judie Goldin (nee Schleifer) died May 2, 2010.

Judith was a life member of Hadassah and a longtime volunteer with the Colonia First Aid Squad. She was predeceased by her husband, Neil R.

Mrs. Goldin was the beloved mother of Ron (Kristie), Robin (Michael) Garber, Adam (Rhonda) and Mark; dear sister of Andrea "Andy" Schleifer (Pam Gecan); and devoted bubbe of Joshua and Benjamin Garber, and Nadia Goldin. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

GORDON. Ms. Carol Lynn Gordon died May 1, 2010, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was 61.

Born in Brooklyn, Carol was a lifelong member of the National Council of Jewish Women, where she had served as president of the Middlesex County section. In addition, she served on the National Nominating Committee and as a national commissioner. She received the Emerging Leader Award in 1999. Carol was employed at Johnson and Johnson in the Worldwide Compensation Resources. She had previously worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb and Covance.

Ms. Gordon is survived by her parents, Sidney Rosenblatt and Sylvia Gordon; daughter, Elizabeth Whetzel; grandchildren, Abigail and Benjamin Whetzel; brothers, Robert Gordon and Mark Russell; and sisters, Amy Perez and Patricia Russell. Interment at Beth David Cemetery, Elmont, N.Y. Arrangements by Barlow and Zimmer Funeral Home, Hightstown.

MACY. Mrs. Anne Passlkoff Macy died April 28, 2010. She was 92.

Born in Brooklyn Mrs. Macy was always a good student. She attended City College, but ceased her studies to work on Wall Street in order to help support her family during the Depression. She met her husband, William Passlkoff, at a resort in the Catskill Mountains, and moved before Bill was deployed to Germany and France as an Army sergeant during World War II. Upon his return they moved to a chicken farm in Freehold and later to Lakewood, where Anne continued to work as a homemaker, bookkeeper, and administrative assistant, staying active in the League of Women Voters, PTA, exercise groups, discussion groups, and Democratic politics. Widowed in 1963, she married Leonard Macy in 1971. Due to declining health, Anne moved to a ranch in Raton, N.M., in 2006 to live with her daughter, Nancy Price, and spouse Slim and son Jess.

Anne was cherished by her nieces and nephews, children and grandchildren, and will be remembered for her warmth, wit, loveliness, love of her family, friends, and her zest for life until her death. Arrangements by Yaksich-Long Funeral Home, Raton, N.M. NOVINSKY. Mrs. Betty Novinsky died April 25, 2010 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was 84.

Born in the Bronx, Mrs. Novinsky lived there for most of her life before moving to East Brunswick seven years ago. Before retiring, she was a secretary at Bulova Watch Factory, Astoria, Queens. Her husband, Leonard, died in 1991; her brother, Ira Brown, died in 2006.

Mrs. Novinsky is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Mindy of East Meadow, N.Y.; daughter and son-in-law, Natalie and Michael Einhorn of East Brunswick; and grandchildren, Douglas and Jessica. Interment at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus. Arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick.

OLLWERTHER. Mrs. Lori Beth Ollwerther died April 29, 2010, at home. She was 55.

Born in Irvington, Lori lived in Kingwood for the past six years, having formerly lived in Budd Lake and Pequannock. She received her B.S. in management science from Kean University. Before retiring in 2003, she worked more than 30 years for Verizon, formerly known as Bell Atlantic. Prior to that, she worked at New Jersey Bell. She was a member of the Flemington Jewish Community Center, Flemington. She was predeceased by her stepmother, Elsie Kopen.

Mrs. Ollwerthere is survived by her husband of 26 years, George Ronald Ollwerther; son, Andrew Vassily Ollwerther; daughter, Erika Anastasia Ollwerther; parents, Ethel and Sanford Kartzman of Oak Ridge; father, Roy Kopen of Union; brothers and sister-in-law, Paul Kartzman, and Scott and Sue Kopen; step-sister and step-brother-in-law, Roberta and Howard Knauer; step-brother and step-sister-in-law, Jeff and Sidy Goldberg; nephews, Josh and Ben Kopen, and David and Brian Goldberg; and niece, Samantha Knauer. Interment at Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont. Arrangements by Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, Flemington.
