Temple Sha'arey Shalom of Springfield. 29th annual "Sustaining Fund Event," a special performance by the New Jersey Cantors' Concert Ensemble. Highland Park Conservative Temple-Congregation Anshe Emeth. E.B. Solomont, the New York correspondent for the Jerusalem Post on "Israel's Response in Haiti: An Insider's View." She covers the United Nations, Israel diplomacy and Jewish communal affairs. On Jan. 14 she was sent to Haiti by the Post to cover the earthquake and the response by the Israeli Defense Forces. Congregation Ahavas Achim. An evening of Sephardic and Middle Eastern music with Shlomo Haviv. Shlomo Haviv has performed at Carnegie Hall and many famous national and international venues in Israel, Latin America, and Europe. He was a lead vocalist in the Israeli Army Orchestra, and held acting and singing roles in Broadway hits, including Evita and Fiddler on the Roof. Bat Shalom Hadassah of Jackson-Howell. Monthly general meeting and presentation. The speaker, Lena Feld, will talk about her growing up Jewish in China. Feld was born in Shanghai, China. Her mother had arrived in Shanghai from Siberia. Her father's family also arrived in China from Siberia and settled in the Manchurian city of Harbin. Feld's father's family later relocated to Shanghai, where her parents met and married in 1935. A very interesting evening is in store.
