AREM. Mr. Alfred Arem died May 29, 2010. He was 97.

Born in New York city, Mr. Arem lived in Brooklyn and Queens, then was a longtime resident of Monroe. His wife, Annette, died in December of 2009.

Mr. Arem is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Philip and Amy of East Brunswick, and Howard and Susan of Plainview, N.Y.; and grandchildren; Randee, Michael, Mark, and Lisa. Interment at New Mount Zion Cemetery, Lyndhurst. Arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan. FENICHEL. Mr. Henry "Hank" Fenichel died May 31, 2010, at home.

Born in Newark, Hank lived in Union and then Springfield before moving to Monroe eight years ago. He graduated from Arts High School in Newark, and was the owner and band leader of Hank Joel Music and Entertainment for 30 years. He played the saxophone and flute, taught music at the Music University in Freehold, and repaired musical woodwinds.

Mr. Fenichel is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Carol (née Modell); daughters and sons-in-law, Mindy and Willaim Kroon, and Elyse and Benjamin Leace; and adored grandchildren, Ryan and Deanna Kroon, and Daniele and David Leace. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery. Arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.

FORMAN. Mrs. Shirley Orgel Forman died May 27, 2010 in Albuquerque, N.M. She was 88.

Shirley grew up in Elizabeth, graduated from Battin High School in 1928, and married Bernard Isaac Forman in 1941. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who helped her husband become a college professor, and raised their children to be productive members of their communities.

Her beloved husband of 51 years, Bernard, died in 1992. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Julius and William Orgel.

Shirley is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Marcia and Joseph Grossman, and Judith Forman and Mark Roman of California, and Rachel and Charles Justus of Albuquerque, N.M.; granddaughters, Deborah Forman and her husband, Alan Peel of Maryland, Jessica Grossman and her husband Joel Kaufman of California, and Rebecca Justus of Boston and Albuquerque; great-granddaughters, Naomi and Rowyn Peel; brother-in-law, Edward Forman of New Jersey; eight nephews and nieces; great-nieces and great-nephews; and cousins. GASKIN. Mr. Martin F. Gaskin died May 31, 2010, at Green Acres Manor, Toms River. He was 82.

Born and raised in the Bronx, Gaskin lived in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn for 35 years before relocating to Toms River 20 years ago. He was a professional printer for many years in the New York area before retiring from KPMG Financial Services. He was a devoted family man and friend.

Mr. Gaskin is survived by his beloved of wife of 57 years, Marilyn R.; daughter and son-in-law, Robyn and Dean Brown of Marlboro; grandchildren, Melissa and Jared Brown; and several other extended family members. Interment at Beth Israel Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements by D’Elia Funeral Home, Lakewood.

HERMAN. Ms. Diana S. Herman died peacefully May 30, 2010, at Haven Hospice in Edison. She was 77.

Mrs. Herman was a longtime resident of Franklin, where she was active with the League of Women Voters and the Franklin Township Public Library. She graduated from Hunter College High School, New York City; Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y.; and Gratz College, Melrose Park, Pa., and held professional positions in early childhood education, communications, and administration. She was a longtime member and past president of Temple Emanu-El in Edison, a trustee of the Union for Reform Judaism, and a past president of its New Jersey West Hudson Valley Council. She also was the recipient of numerous civic and religious honors and awards.

Ms. Herman is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert; daughters, Jane and Amy, both of New York City; grandson, Ian Murray of New York City; sister, Claire Glasser of Cedar Grove; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a wide circle of friends. KWAWER. Mrs. Pearl Kwawer died May 31, 2010, at Care One in East Brunswick. She was 94.

Born in Boston, Mrs. Kwawer moved to Grant City, Staten Island for 36 years. She also lived in Jamesburg and has been an East Brunswick resident since 1987. She was a member of the Rossmoor Square Dancing Club and the Rossmoor Sisterhood. Her husband, Lester, died in 1986. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Karen; brother, Hyman Evans; and sisters, Sally Bergstrom and Rita Forman.

Mrs. Kwawer is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Celeste and Eric Deger of East Brunswick; brothers, Harry Evans of Yonkers, N.Y., and Murray Evans of Long Island, N.Y.; grandchildren, Jason Deger, Jennifer Ginest, Rebecca Trzaska, and Allison Florman; and great-grandsons, Jacob, Noah, Jonah, Collin, Ethan and Shane. Interment at Baron Hirsch Cemetery, Staten Island. Arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. MITZNER. Mr. Stanley Mitzner died June 3, 2010, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was 80.

Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Mitzner graduated from New York University and Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. He was an analytical chemist at American Cyanamid in Bridgewater for 35 years, retiring in 1991. He lived in Piscataway for 45 years and a was a member of Congregation Knesseth Israel.

Mr. Mitzner is survived by his wife, Judy of Somerset; son, Fred of Washington, D.C.; daughters and son-in-law, Jill Land of New York City and Gwen and Marvin Kahn, also of New York City; and grandchildren, Sam Land, and Haley and Justin Kahn. SEGAL. Mr. Jerome (Jerry) M. Segal died June 3, 2010 at home. He was 94.

Born in New York City, Jerry grew up in Inwood and Washington Heights in New York. He also lived in East Meadow, N.Y. For the past 25 years he lived in Manchester, N.J. and Boynton Beach, Fla. for the past 25 years. As a First Lieutenant in the 45th Infantry Division in World War II he was severely wounded in Italy at the Battle of Anzio, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for bravery in battle. He graduated from C.C.N.Y. and Brooklyn Law School, was a member of the V.F.W. and J.W.V. of Leisure Village West, Manchester. Admired by all he touched for his keen intelligence, with, advice, and extreme generosity, he will be deeply missed. His beloved wife of 60 years, Elizabeth (née Kaufman), died in 2004.

Mr. Segal is survived by his daughters, Jo-Ann Segal and Carol Kaplan; grandsons, Laurence Berland and Noah Berland; sons-in-law, Keith Crossley and Joel Kaplan; nieces and nephews, Arlene Stiebel, Irene Richard, Alan Richard, Sidney Stiebel, and Neal Richard; and the Nitzburg family circle.
