THE JEWISH STATE
April 2, 2010

Doesn't belong here

In reading last week's issue of The Jewish State (March 19), I was astonished and shocked to read the letter by Chiara Nappi ("Settlement in the West Bank"), obviously a Palestinian sympathizer. In this letter, Ms. Nappi lambastes Israel for "actions that undermine peace, provoke and humiliate Palestinians and upset Israel's supporters." She goes on to say "Eviction of Palestinians from their homes and establishment of settlers in East Jerusalem continue nonstop; settlement building in the occupied West Bank has never been frozen." Finally, she says "Netanyahu announced his program of 'heritage sites' and put on his list two of the most contentious sites in the occupied West Bank: Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem and the Cave of the Patriarchs/Ibrahim Mosque in Hebron."

The lies and misrepresentations in this letter reflect the claims and mantra of the PLO. The PLO has never given an inch while Israel keeps on giving more and more in order to satisfy the PLO's insatiable demands. The PLO will, obviously, never be satisfied with anything less than a complete Israeli surrender, and the "two-state" solution is just a temporary stopgap solution.

My question is, how could The Jewish State, a Jewish newspaper that caters to thousands of Jewish readers, who love and support Israel, print such an abhorrent and offensive letter? This letter belongs in Al-Jazeera, not in your newspaper. As we say in the Passover haggadah, "in every generation our enemies rise up against us to annihilate us; it is only by the grace of God, that we are saved." In this generation, the Arab world is the enemy that seeks our destruction, so why give them credibility in our newspapers?
